Good to Know

Everything you need to know before joining us.

VIPWhat is the VIP Experience?

VIP guests and qualifying sponsors will enjoy early access to an exclusive, private VIP area featuring some of the evening's most premium wines, spirits and specialty selections, along with dedicated dining, seating and lounge areas to relax and socialize before and throughout the evening.

Is there a formal program or speeches?

Nope… and that's by design. KFWE is all about enjoying great food, exceptional wines and spirits, and great company. Come, mingle, taste, sip and enjoy the evening at your own pace.

Will there be speeches or political presentations?

Elected officials may attend as guests, but there will be no political speeches or presentations.

What should I expect from the evening?

Think less formal event and more great night out… no assigned seating, no lengthy program and no speeches. Explore at your own pace, discover exceptional kosher food, wine and spirits, catch up with friends and meet new people.

What is the dress code?

Smart casual is suggested — come as you like, it's a night out!

How many wines will be available to sample, and where are they from?

Over 100 wines will be sampled from around the world.

What foods can we expect?

The wines will be paired with light bites and charcuterie-style food on hand for a real treat for your palate.

Are there going to be solicitations at the event?

Nope — don't worry, this isn't a formal event with a program where you're pressured to give. Tax-deductible donations are always appreciated, though!

I see there's a Pre-Event Reception for sponsors — what's that about?

For event sponsors, there will be a VIP Pre-Event Reception with a chance to visit personally with the owners of international wineries as well as other dignitaries who will be present, plus a chance to sample some of the rarest and most exotic labels.

I heard "non-Mevushal" wines will be among those sampled — what does "Mevushal" mean?

The simple answer is that "Mevushal" means "boiled." There are special kosher rules around wine because it's such a big part of Jewish celebrations — Mevushal wine can be opened and served by anyone. At this event, in addition to Mevushal wines, HKA Mashgiachs will be on hand to personally open and serve non-Mevushal wines.

Can I pay by check instead of credit card?

Yes. Checkout is credit/debit card only — if you'd prefer to send a check, please email [email protected] for more information. Any sponsor recognition is added to the Sponsors Wall once your check is received.

Can I add an HKA membership when I register?

Yes — at checkout you can add an annual HKA membership for $150 alongside any sponsorship or ticket. Learn More About HKA Membership.

Will my Sponsors Wall recognition be public?

You choose. During checkout you can display your name and message on the public Sponsors Wall, or give completely anonymously.

Can I add a photo to my Sponsors Wall recognition?

Absolutely — upload a JPG or PNG up to 1MB when you complete your sponsor recognition.

I don't keep kosher — why should HKA matter to me?

This event isn't about making you a kosher-observant Jew — it's about building an appreciation for the work HKA does, and the fact that kosher wines and foods go far beyond what you might remember from years past. As Houston's Orthodox community continues to grow, more restaurants, kosher markets, and grocery items will need HKA certification. Visit kosherhouston.org to learn more.
